REQUEST OF PROFESSOR H. S. GRINDLEY

(29) Professor H. S. Grindley has requested that he be relieved of the direction of the work of Chief in Animal Nutrition in the Department of Animal Husbandry in the Agricultural Experiment Station, and that his title be changed to Professor of Animal Nutrition and Associate Chief in Animal Nutrition, effective from September 1, 1925. Dean Mumford recommends approval of this request, and recommends further that Professor H. H. Mitchell be placed in charge of the work in Animal Nutrition, with the title of Professor of Animal Nutrition and Chief in Animal Nutrition. President Kinley has approved this arrangement subject to approval by the Board. O n motion of M r . W h a m , this action w a s confirmed. APPOINTMENT OF MISS MILDRED COVER (30) As an emergency matter, I have appointed Miss Mildred Cover as secretary to the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences from September I, 1925, to March 1, 1926, at a total salary of £1,050, or $175 a month. This is a temporary appointment only. The salary is higher than we would ordinarily expect to pay for such a position on a more or less permanent basis; but in view of m y absence it seemed to m e best to have a person of Miss Cover's experience in the office. I request approval of m y action, with the understanding that this is a temporary measure and is not to be considered as establishing a precedent in other cases. O n motion of M r . Barr, this appointment w a s approved.

Scott, Professor of English, Chairman of the Department of English, and Director of the courses in Journalism, to accept the position of editor-in-chief of an eastern publishing house. This report w a s received for record.
