APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR ERNEST BERNBAUM AS CHAIRMAN OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

(32) I recommend the change of status and salary of Professor Ernest Bernbaum of the Department of English from Professor of English, indefinite, at $5,000, to Professor of English, indefinite, and Chairman of the Department, for one year beginning September 1, 1925, at a salary of #6,000 a year. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this appointment w a s m a d e . PRESIDENT'S CAR {33) The Superintendent of Business Operations submits three propositions which he has received on the purchase of a new car for the President, in exchange for the present Lincoln car: I. A Lincoln seven passenger Sedan, $3,097, minus a possible additional credit on the present car. 2. A Cadillac custom built seven passenger Suburban, fully equipped, $3,1053. A Packard Straight Eight, fully equipped, price $5,350, and the agent proposes a credit of $1,800, which makes the cost $3,550. He suggests that the purchase of a new car be authorized and referred to a committee with power. I submit the matter without recommendation. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this matter w a s referred to the Executive Committee with power to act, and an appropriation of $4000, or so m u c h thereof as m a y be necessary, w a s m a d e from the Reserve and Contingent fund by the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Ickes, M r . Noble, M r . Trees, M r . W h a m ; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r s . Grigsby, M r . Small. C.P.A. CERTIFICATE FOR MR. HENRY THOMAS CHAMBERLAIN {34) The Committee on Accountancy has j s r c i e a statement from the ut eevd Board of Examiners that an error was made in the original report of the examination of Mr. Henry Thomas Chamberlain. The Board now reports that Mr. Chamberlain passed the examination instead of having failed as originally reported. The Committee recommends that Mr. Chamberlain be awarded a C.P.A. certificate as of M a y 22, 1925, the date of his examination. I concur in this recommendation. O n motion of M r . Trees, this recommendation w a s approved.
