O n motion of Mrs. Blake, this recommendation was approved. T h e vote was as follows: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r s . Blake, M r s . Busey, Mrs. Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes, M r . Noble, M r . Trees, M r . Trimble; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r . Small. EXTENSION OF SCHOLARSHIPS (18) The scholarships granted by law ( . . General Assembly, County, and ie, Military) may, under the law, be extended in time by the President of the University, for a certain purpose. The scholarships granted by the Board of Trustees _(i. e., scholarships_ in Ceramics, Agriculture, and Household Science) do not provide for such extension. It seems to m e that w e ought to have a uniform policy in the matter of administering these scholarships, and therefore I recommend that the regulations governing scholarships in Agriculture, Household Science, and Ceramics, be amended as follows: "Any student holding a University scholarship, who shall make it appear to the satisfaction of the President of the University that herequiresleave of absence for the purpose of earning funds to defray his expense while in attendance, may be granted such leave of absence, and may be allowed a period not to exceed six years to complete his course at the University." O n motion of M r . Trimble, this a m e n d m e n t w a s adopted. SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS FOR EQUIPMENT (19) A recommendation that the following appropriations from the Reserve and Contingent Fund be added to the list of special appropriations for colleges and departments in the regular budget (see page 573, June 9 ) : College oj L a w For Binding of Books and Periodicals $1500 Military Sundry equipment $1000 O n motion of Mrs. Evans, these appropriations were made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Ickes, Mr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. Trimble; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Small. ADJUSTMENTS IN SALARY (20) A recommendation that adjustments in salaries for 1924-25 be made as follows: Anna C. Glover, Secretary of the Agricultural Experiment Station, £2,750. W . A. Ruth, Assistant Professor of Pomological Physiology, $3,500. 0. G. Schaffer, Associate in Landscape Gardening (full time), $3,250. Dorothy E. Bonn, specialist in Farm Organization and Management, $2,ooo.1 E. R. Dillavou, Assistant Professor of Business Law, $3,000. F. A. Russell, Professor of Business Organization and Operation, $5,000. H. A. Berg, Assistant in Farm Organization and Management, $1,200. Anna L. Neuber, Chief Clerk in the Information Office, $2,200. Frank W . Scott, Professor of Journalism and Acting Chairman of the Department of English, $4,500. A. H. Daniels, Dean of the Graduate School, $7,000. Also a further recommendation that the item for wages in the expense and equipmentfrom Universitythe office of the Dean of W o m e n be made $2,300 instead ^100 budget of funds; #1,800 from Smith-Lever. of $2,000. O n motion of M r s . Blake, these adjustments were approved.

(21) I have a letter from the Superintendent of Business Operations enclosing a
