TIMES OF CONFERRING THE DOCTORATE (5) A recommendation from the University Senate, based on a recommendation from the Executive Faculty of the Graduate School, that the practise of conferring the degree of Doctor of Philosophy four times a year be discontinued and that hereafter this degree be conferred only in June and in February. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this recommendation w a s adopted. APPOINTMENT TO COMMITTEE ON ACCOUNTANCY (6) A recommendation that Mr. F. B. Andrews, C. P. A., be appointed a member of the Board of Examiners in Accountancy for three years beginning July 1, 1923, to succeed Mr. E. E. Gore, whose term expires June 30, 1923. O n motion of M r . Armstrong, this appointment w a s m a d e .

Mckinley hospital fund

(7) A report from the Comptroller that, in accordance with the action of the Board of Trustees at its meeting of April 11 (page 167), he has exchanged the securities listed below for the sum of #80,000 in cash, which has been received and deposited with the Treasurer of the University, and placed to the credit of the McKinley Hospital Fund: 400 Shares Illinois Traction Company C o m m o n Stock $15,000 Atchison Railway, Light and Power Co. Bonds £15,000 Bloomington and Normal Railway Light Co. Bonds This report w a s received for record.

PURCHASES OF PROPERTY IN COLLEGE PLACE

(8) A report from the Comptroller that in accordance with the actions of the Board at its meeting of M a y 18 (pages 188 and 197), he has concluded the following purchases of property in College Place, Champaign: Lot 34 from S. A. Blaine Purchase price $2,000, paid in cash Subject to general taxes for 1923, estimated $12 Lot 52 from Clair W . Knapp Purchase price $9,000 Paid in cash $5,500 Mortgage outstanding, due M a y 28, 1926, interest 6 % payable semi-annually, with option of payments in multiples of $100 on any interest paying date $3,500 Subject to general taxes for 1923, estimated $90, and to unpaid installments on assessment for ornamental lighting system $52.16 This report w a s received for record.

PAYMENT OF SALARY OF PROFESSOR STOEK

(9) A recommendation from Dean Ketchum that half of the salary of Professor Stoek from the date of the last payment (April 1, 1923) until September 1, 1923, be paid to his daughter, Miss Leigh Stoek. I recommend the approval of this recommendation. O n motion of M r s . Busey, this recommendation w a s adopted.
