At this point, at 1 p. m.? a recess was taken. AFTERNOON SESSION, FEBRUARY 8, 1922 When the Board convened for the afternoon session, the same persons were present as during the morning session. On request of President Abbott, Mr. Trimble presided during the afternoon.

The Board resumed consideration of matters presented by the President of the University.

ORGANIZATION FOR S T A D I U M CONSTRUCTION (25) A recommendation that the plan of organization embodied in the following resolution of the Athletic Association be concurred in: Whereas, on December 14, 1920, the Board of Trustees of the University gave the Athletic Association permission to solicit subscriptions for the erection of a Stadium; and Whereas, the Athletic Association has secured pledges amounting to $1,776,535, more or less, of which $219,264.91 have already been paid in; and Whereas, the Trustees have accepted the custody of the money raised for this purpose, have appointed a treasurer to care for the same, and have assigned to the University Comptroller the duties of receiving remittances on pledges and of keeping Stadium accounts; and Whereas, it seems desirable to keep, in the work of constructing the Stadium, the enthusiastic support of alumni and friends shown in the financial campaign, while yet recognizing the fact that the construction of the Stadium must be under the authority of the Board of Trustees, and that the responsibility for the Stadium will, in the mind of the public, be placed upon the Trustees; Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED: (1) That the Athletic Association hereby request the Board of Trustees of the University to give to the Athletic Association authority to go on, as its agent, with the construction of the Stadium; (2) That in discharging this duty the Athletic Association appoint a committee of alumni and others acceptable to the Board of Trustees to conduct the actual business connected with the erection of the Stadium;
