(11) The following statement: The United States Bureau of Mines has entered into an agreement with the New York State Bridge and Tunnel Commission, and the New Jersey Interstate Bridge and Tunnel Commission, for the investigation of certain problems of ventilation which arise in connection with the construction of the new vehicular tunnel oyer the Hudson River between New York City and Jersey City. The Bureau of Mines has asked the University of Illinois to cooperate in this investigation through the Engineering Experiment Station with Professor A. C. Willard as consulting Engineer. The Bureau is to furnish engineers as assistants, to pay for any additional assistants and mechanics needed, to provide instruments or other facilities not available in the Engineering Experiment Station, and to pay for power, materials, and supplies needed. The University assumes no financial obligations and all expenses connected with the investigation shall be met directly by the Bureau. Full publication rights of the results of the investigation are to belong to the University. I recommend that the President of the University be authorized to approve such a contract subject to the general rules for the execution of University contracts.

On motion of Mr* Abbott, this contract was authorized.

SCHOLARSHIPS A N D FELLOWSHIPS

(12) A recommendation that $25,000 be provided in the Budget for 1921-22 for graduate fellowships and scholarships, and that the President of the University be authorized to make appointments within this limit.

On motion of Mrs. Busey, this recommendation was approved.

A N N O U N C E M E N T O F COURSES

(13) A recommendation that an additional appropriation of $1,200 be made for printing the "Announcement of Courses'* for the year.

On motion of Mr. Abbott, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Garr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Small, Mr. Trimble.

A P P R O P R I A T I O N FOR C O U N C I L O F A D M I N I S T R A T I O N

(14) A recommendation that an appropriation of $500 be made for the incidental expenses of the Council of Administration.

On motion of Mr. Hoit, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Small, Mr. Trimble.

(15) A recommendation that an additional appropriation of $2500 be made for printing the Annual Register*
