A P P O I N T M E N T OF DR. G. E. GIBSON (16) A request for authority to appoint Dr. George E. Gibson as Associate Professor of Physical Chemistry, at a salary of $4500 a year, beginning September 1, 1921.

This appointment was authorized.

A P P O I N T M E N T OF DR. H. M. M A R T I N (17) A request for authority to appoint Dr. Henry M. Martin as Associate in Romance Languages, at a salary of $2000 a year, for two years beginning September 1, 1921.

A P P O I N T M E N T TO ADVISORY B O A R D OF P H A R M A C Y (18) A report of the action of the President of the University in appointing, on the nomination of the executive committee of the Illinois Pharmaceutical Association, Mr. Byron Armstrong of Jacksonville a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Pharmacy for a term of five years beginning January 1,1921, to succeed Mr. Albert Zimmerman of Peoria, whose term had expired.

C O N T R A C T S W I T H CHICAGO POLICLINIC A N D S T . ELIZABETH'S H O S P I T A L S (19) A request for authority to conclude proposed contracts between the University and the Chicago Policlinic and St. Elizabeth's Hospitals, recommended by the faculty of the College of Medicine. These contracts give the University the right to appoint students as clinical clerks or externes and as internes in the hospitals and define the relations between the University and the hospitals in this connection.

G I F T OF S P I N N I N G W H E E L FROM D E A N D A V E N P O R T (20) A report of the action of the President of the University in accepting from Dean Davenport the gift of his mother 's spinning wheel, to become a part of the illustrative material employed in the teaching of textiles in the department of home economics.

The Secretary was instructed to express to Dean Davenport the appreciation of the Board for his generosity.

A D D I T I O N A L BELL T E L E P H O N E S (21) A recommendation from the Supervising Architect that the maximum number of Bell telephones and extensions to be installed on the campus be fixed at 110.

On motion of Mr. Abbott, this recommendation was approved.

LEAVE O F A B S E N C E FOR PROFESSOR RUCKMICK (22) A recommendation that leave of absence with half pay from February 1 to August 31, 1921, be granted to Associate Professor C. A. Ruckmick.

On motion of Mr. Abbott, this recommendation was approved.
