BOARD OF TRUSTEES

INSURANCE ON PAPER AND SOIL MAPS (7) A recommendation that the Comptroller be authorized to take out insurance on paper and soil maps stored with printers who are doing work under contract with the University, at a cost of not more than $200 a year.

On motion of Mr. Abbott, this recommendation was approved.

SEMI-CENTENNIAL A L U M N I RECORD—.VOLUME II (8) The following statement: I have authorized Mr. Carl Stephens to proceed with the compilation of Volume II of the Semi-Centennial Alumni Record (that for the Chicago departments). Mr. Stephens makes the following estimate of the cost of a staff to handle the work, assuming that it can be done in a year: Assistant Editor and chief clerk $1000 Assistant 960 Assistant 900 Utility help 800 $3660 Mr. Stephens will act as editor and be in general charge of the work, and be responsible to the President of the University and the Board of Trustees. I recommend that $2,000.00 be appropriated from the Reserve and Incidental fund to carry this work to June 30, 1920.

On motion of Mr. Blair, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward; no, none; absent, Mr. Lowden, Mr. Trimble.

ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION FOR T H E DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR MEN (9) A request from the Director of the Department of Physical Education for Men, Mr. George A. Huff, for an additional appropriation of $1000, to carry on the work for the rest of the year.

On motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mrs. Blake, Mrs. Busey, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward; no, none; absent, Mr. Lowden, Mr. Trimble.

APPROPRIATION FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND FELLOWSHIPS IN T H E GRADUATE SCHOOL FOR T H E YEAR 1920-1921 (10) A request from Acting Dean A. H. Daniels of the Graduate School for the usual authority to appoint scholars and fellows in the Graduate School for the year 1920-21, with stipendiums not to exceed a total of $25,000.

On motion of Mrs. Evans, this appropriation was authorized.

CHICAGO OFFICE The following statement: On March 15, 1919, on recommendation of the Comptroller, the Executive Committee authorized the President of the University to lease an office in Chicago for the use of the Trustees of the University, and for the Department of Industrial Education in Chicago, at a rent not to exceed one hundred dollars a month. A lease was secured on Room 528, Continental & Commercial Bank Building, from May 1, 1919, to April 30, 1920, at a monthly rental of $75.00, or $900.00 for the year. (11)
