UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

587

On motion of Mr. Abbott, the fojjowing resolutions were adopted. The Board of Trustees have heard with extreme sorrow of the sad death of Professor Cyril George Hopkins, a member of the faculty of the University m the College of Agriculture, at Gibraltar. Words fail to express the sense of loss which all members qt the University feel at Professor Hopkins's death. His death leaves a great gap not only in our University faculty, but in the community in the scientific world, and in education. The Board of Trustees therefpre desires to put on record its deep sympathy with Mrs. Hopkins in her great loss, and its appreciation of Professor Hopkins's greatness as a man* a teacher, and a scholar. We will have to search far before we find a successor who will fill so worthily the large place that he has occupied in our Jqcal, state, and national affairs.
