LEASE OF FIRST FLOOR Y.M.C.A. BUILDING TO ILLINOIS UNION (6) The following letter from the Comptroller: October 2, 1919 President David Kinky, University of Illinois

M Y DEAR PRESIDENT KINLEY:

In the matter of a lease with the Illinois Union for the first floor of the YMCA Building, Professor White and Dean Clark have recommended that a lease be made for twelve months from July 1,1919, for the first floor with the exception of the southwest corner room and the room and private bath immediately northwest of the office, at a rental of J l 800, for the year, payable in ten installments, beginning September 1. On this basis the University will assume the responsibility for the janitor service and will furnish heat, light, and water* The Union wili agree to pay the sum of $25 per month toward the salary of the clerk in charge of the office and the dormitory. The Union will also agree not to sublet any of the premises except with the approval of the University. These terms will be acceptable to the Illinois Union, and I would recommend that the legal counsel of the University be instructed to draw up a lease in proper
