BOARD OF TRUSTEES

MATTERS SUBMITTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY

The Executive Committee considered the following matters submitted by President James:

LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR PROFESSORS E. C. SCHMIDT, E. BARTOW, AND L. E. YOUNG

(1) A request from Professor E. C. Schmidt for indefinite leave of absence without pay from the University, beginning when he is ordered to report for service as Major in the Ordnance Department of the United States Army, he having been appointed to this office but not yet ordered to report for duty. I have granted similar requests from Professor Edward Bartow of the Department of Sanitary Chemistry, and Professor L. E. Young of the College of Commerce. Unless the Board takes action to the contrary, I shall extend leave of absence to Professor Schmidt in accordance with the authority given me by the Board on May 1, 1917.

No action was taken.

TRANSFER OF A G R I C U L T U R A L FUNDS

(2) A request from the Dean of the College of Agriculture for a transfer to the Agricultural College Extension account of $1,000 from the appropriations of the present year for Dairy Husbandry.

On motion of Mr. Carr, this transfer was approved.

SITE FOR M c K I N L E Y HOSPITAL

(3) A letter from the Comptroller concerning the purchase of lots in the College Place addition as a site for the McKinley Hospital. President Edmund J. James, University of Illinois

MY DEAR PRESIDENT JAMES:

I beg to advise you that in accordance with the action of the Board of Trustees at its meeting on September 13, I have purchased the following lots: From Fannie B. Sherfy: Lot 70 in College Place Addition, located on the east side of Arbor Street near Armory Avenue, having a frontage of 54 feet on Arbor Street and a depth of 114 feet. Subject to general taxes for 1917 (paving assessment entirely paid). Lot 75 in College Place Addition to the city of Champaign, located on Third Street near Armory Avenue, with a frontage of 54 feet on Third Street and a depth of 114 feet. Subject to general taxes for 1917 and to a complete assessment for Third Street pavement, amounting to $250 12 plu$ interest
