AFTERNOON SESSION, SEPTEMBER 12, 1916 When the Board convened on the afternoon of September 12, 1916, after the recess, the same members were present as at the morning session. The Board adjourned to meet in the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, in the State House, at Springfield, at 9 a .m. on Thursday, September 21, 1916.

ADJOURNED SESSION, SEPTEMBER 21, 1916 When the Board of Trustees met in the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, at Springfield, at 9 a. m. on Thursday, September 21, 1916, pursuant to the adjournment taken Tuesday, September 12, 1916, the following members were present: President Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward, Miss Watson. President James was present. In the absence of the Secretary on University business, Miss Watson acted as Secretary pro tempore.

MATTERS SUBMITTED BY PRESIDENT JAMES

The Board proceeded to the consideration of the following matters submitted by the President of the University.

PLANS FOR EDUCATION BUILDING

(1) A number of sketches showing possible styles of building, any one of which might properly be adopted for the Education Building.

After thoro discussion, the Board voted, on motion of Mr. Blair, to approve the design last submitted by Holabird and Roche, being a stone structure with metal sashes, and to direct the Supervising Architect to proceed with working drawings according to this design; the part of the building to be first erected to cost approximately $210,000. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mr. Carr, Mrs r Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr, Ward, Miss Watson;
