UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

There were present Mr. Carr and Mr. Hoit, members of the Executive Committee, Mrs. Evans, and Mr. Ward, members of the board, President James, and Prof. J. M. White, Supervising ArchitectMr. Fred L. Hatch, a former member of the board and of the Executive Committee, sat with the committee during the afternoon. On motion of Mr. Carr, Mr. Hoit was elected chairman of the meeting. MATTERS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. President James presented the following matters for consideration:

AUTHORITY TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS.

(1) A request for authority to make the following new appointments: APPOINTMENT OF DR. W. P. GEPHART. '(a) Dr. William E\ Gephart, of Washington University, Professor of Insurance, to be appointed Dean of the College of Commerce and Administration for one year from September 1, 1915, a t a salary of $4,000 a year. APPOINTMENT OF DR. W. L. BURLISON. (b) Dr. W. L. Burlison, Associate Professor of Crop Production in the College of Agriculture and Associate Chief in Crop Production in the Agricultural Experiment Station, for three years beginning September 1, 1915, at a salary of $2,800 a year. APPOINTMENT OF MR. F . A. WYATT. (c) Mr. F . A.- Wyatt, Assistant in Soil Fertility in the College of Agriculture and the Agricultural Experiment Station, for one year beginning September 1, 1915, at a, salary of $1,200 a year. APPOINTMENT OF MR. G. E. FORBES. (d) Mr. G. E. Forbes, Instructor in Art and Design, for ten months beginning September 1, 1915, at a salary of $1,500. APPOINTMENT OF MR. E. F. KOHMANN. (e) Mr. E. F. Kohmann, Dairy Chemist with the rank of Associate in the Department of Dairy Husbandry of the Agricultural Experiment Station, at a salary of $2,000 a year for two years beginning August 1, 1915, or as soon thereafter as he may report for duty. On motion of Mr. Carr, these appointments were authorized.

(2) A request for authority to appoint a committee to represent the Council of Administration during the summer session and to act under the authority given to the Council by the rules of the board. On motion of Mr. Carr, authority to appoint such a committee was granted.

CONTRACTS FOR N E W B U I L D I N G S .

(3) The matter of bids on the construction of the Education, Ceramics, and Vivarium Buildings. This matter was discussed at some length, but action was deferred until a meeting of the board could be held. The Executive Committee adjourned. O. W. HOIT, Chairman of the Meeting. H., E. "When the board convened at 9.00 a. m., on Tuesday, June 15, 1915, pursuant to the adjournment taken on Monday, June 14, 1915, the following members were present: President Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward, and Miss Watson. President James and Prof. J. M. White were present. MATTERS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. The regular order of business was set aside and the board proceeded to the consideration of the following matters presented by President James:
