mental branches of chemistry as a science and for those students who desire a combination of subjects not outlined in the other four groups. * * *. At least 12 hours of the electives under Option A must be in chemistry. In all the groups except B, 10 hours of the electives must be taken outside of the department and must include a course in economics. The groups a r e : A, general; B, electrochemical ; C, industrial; D, food and sanitation; E, physiological."' Also, that the following new language requirement be approved for the course in chemistry: Preliminary preparation in German or French equivalent to two years of high-school work, or one year of university work. The total language requirement for graduation, including courses offered for entrance, would thus be the equivalent of two years of university German and one year of university French. ' MUSIC. That the wording of the requirements for graduation in music should read, "Candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Music must offer credit for 130 semester hours, including the prescribed subjects named below, together with a satisfactory public recital in the major subject, during the second semester of the senior year, and an acceptable thesis on a topic related to music." Further, that the minor subject be carried at least two years, and in any event the work of the freshman year be completed in the minor subject. Very respectfully yours, C. M. A P P O I N T M E N T OF DR. R. W . ROGERS.

(12) A recommendation that the President of the University be given authority to appoint Dr. Robert JWilliam Rogers Professor of History at a salary of $5,000 a year, beginning September 1, 1915. It is proposed to assign, to Prof. Rogers the field of the history of the near East, including Egypt, Palestine, Assyria, Babylonia, Asia Minor, and in general the history of the eastern end of the Mediterranean basin previous to the rise of Greece. Dr. Rogers will be expected also to give such courses in Semitics as the requirements of his work in history will permit. He will for the present be made head of the Department of Semitics, to do such work in this field as may be assigned to him by the President of the University. On motion of Mr. Hoit, this recommendation was approved. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. The Secretary of the board presented for record the following list of appointments made by President James: Kramer, Morris, Technician in Gross Anatomy in the College of Medicine, at a salary of fifty-five dollars ($55) a month, beginning May 1, 1915, and continuing until further notice. (May 7, 1915.)* Krudwig, Edna, Technician in Pathology in the College of Medicine, at a salary of forty'dollars ($40) a month, for the months of June and July, 1915. Adjourned Session, June 14, 1915.

Pursuant to the adjournment taken at the session of June 8, 1915, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois convened at the University, in Urbana, on Monday, June 14, 1915, at 2.00 p. m. The following members were present: Mr. Carr, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Ward. President James and Prof. James M. White, Supervising Architect, were also present. There being no quorum, the board adjourned to meet at the University at 9.00 a. m., on Tuesday, June 15, 1915. W. L. ABBOTT, President, H. E. CUNNINGHAM, Secretary.

Meeting of the Executive Committee, June 14, 1915.

A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the University, in Urbana, on Monday, June 14, 1915, immediately following the adjournment of the meeting of the board on the same day. * The date in parenthesis is the date on which the appointment was made by the President of the University.
