MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 8, 1914.

The regular quarterly meeting of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Trustees' Room, at the University, in Urbana, on Tuesday, September 8, 1914, at 10.00 a. m. There being no quorum, the board adjourned to meet at Hotel LaSalle, in the city of Chicago, on Friday, September 11, 1914, at 12.00 m. W. L. ABBOTT, President. H. E. CUNNINGHAM, Secretary.

Adjourned Session, September 11, 1914.

Pursuant to the adjournment taken at the quarterly meeting of September 8, 1914, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois met at Hotel LaSalle, in Chicago, on Friday, September 11, 1914, beginning at 12.00 m. The following members were present: President Abbott, Superintendent Blair, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Moore. President James was present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES. The Secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of August 14, 1914. On motion of Mrs. Evans, the minutes were approved as printed on pages 102-113 above. REPORTS OF T H E FINANCE COMMITTEE. Chairman Allen P. Moore presented for the Finance Committee the following reports:

(1) The text of the proposed agreement governing the donation of * certain lands in Champaign County by Capt. Thomas J. Smith to provide for a building for the School of Music: September 10, 191Jf. Board of Trustees, University of Illinois^ JJrbana3 III. DEAR SIRS : The Finance Committee held a meeting in the office of Capt. J. R. Trevett on Thursday, September 10, 1914. Present: Mr. Allen F . Moore, Chairman; Capt. J. R. Trevett, Mr. Otis W. Hoit, and President James. The committee took up the consideration of the proposition made by Capt. Thomas J. Smith to* present to the Trustees of the University of Illinois certain lands in Champaign County, from the proceeds of which a building for the use of the Department of Music might be erected on the Campus of the University of Illinois. After consultation with Capt. Thomas J. Smith, the form of an agreement which is hereto appended was agreed to by Capt. Smith and the member's of the committee. "We recommend, first, that the lands offered by Capt. Smith be accepted for the purpose indicated in the agreement. Second, that the proper officers of the board be authorized to execute the agreement relating to this matter which is hereto appended. Signed by the members of the committee.

Smith of Champaign County, State of Illinois, party of the first part, and the Board of Trustees pf the University of Illinois, a corporation existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of Illinois, party of the second part, Witnesseth: 114
