The secretary presented the following report of appointments made by President James under the authority of the Board of Trustees. This report was received for record:

Ayer, Thomas P., Shelf Assistant in the Library, beginning October 1, 1913, and continuing until August 31, 1914, at a salary of seventy dollars ($70) a month, vice Bertram Smith. (October 3, 1913.f) Brunson, Arthur Maxwell, Assistant in Plant Breeding in the Agricultural Experiment Station, for twelve months beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of seventy dollars ($70) a month, work and salary to begin when he reports for service, vice J. B. Park. (September 20, 1913.) Breedis, John, Shelf Assistant in Library, on one-third time, beginning September 18, 1913, and continuing until August 31, 1913, at a salary of eighteen dollars ($18) a month. (September 19, 1913.) , Brothers, E. D., Lecturer on Dental Jurisprudence in the College of Dentistry, for the academic year 1913-14, at a salary of one hundred dollars ($100) for the year, payable when his course of lectures is completed. (September 25, 1913.) Burmeister, William H., Assistant Professor of Pathology in the College of Medicine, on part time, for one year beginning October 1, 1913, at a salary of two thousand dollars ($2,000) for the year. (September 30, 1913.) Cass, Elizabeth H., Cataloger in the Library, beginning September 16, 1913, at a salary of sixty-five dollars ($65) a month, subject to the regulations of the Civil Service Commission. (September 26, 1913.) Cassidy, Holland M., Stenographer in the Office of the Dean of the College of Law, on part time, beginning September 20, 1913, and continuing until further notice at a salary of twenty-five dollars ($25) a month. (September 30, 1913.) Christy, Glenn, Shelf Assistant in the Library, on one-third time beginning September 23, 1913, and continuing until August 31, 1914, at a salary of eighteen dollars ($18) a month. (September 27, 1913.) Davis, David John, Director of the Research Laboratory for Experimental Medicine in the College of Medicine, at a salary of five thousand, dollars ($5,000) per annum, beginning October 1, 1913, or as soon thereafter as he reports for service; also, Acting Professor of Pathology and Acting Head of the Department of Pathology in the College of Medicine, until further notice, without additional salary. (September 15, 1913.) . Dittmar, G. W., Superintendent of the Infirmary in the College of Dentistry, for the year beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of two hundred dollars ($200) per annum; this amount to be additional to the amount of his salary as Professor of Prosthetic Dentistry. (September 2o, 1913.) Dreyer, George P., Junior Dean of the College of Medicine, for the academic year beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of five hundred dollars ($500) for the year; this amount to be additional to the amount of his salary as Professor of Physiology and Head of the Department of Physiology in the College of Medicine. (September 25, 1913.) Eckstein, Charles Henry, Student Assistant in Chemistry, for nine months beginning October 1, 1913, at a salary of ten dollars ($10) a month, vice Joseph Cohen, resigned. (October 2, 1913.) Eldredge, Arthur G., Instructor in Photography and Director of the Photographic Laboratories, for twelve* months beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of two hundred fifty dollars ($250) a month, work and salary to begin when he reports for service in Urbana. (September 20, 1913.) Eppinger, John D., Shelf Assistant in the Library, on two-thirds time, beginning September 18, 1913, and continuing until August 31, 1914, at a salary of thirty-six dollars ($36) a month. (September 19, 1913.) Pair, Sue M., Stenographer in the Office of the Dean of Men, for twelve months beginning October 1, 1913, at*a salary of eighty dollars ($80) a month. (September 27, 1913.) Fontaine, Everett O., Shelf Assistant in the Library, on two-thirds time, beginning September 23, 1913, and continuing until August 31, 1914, at a salary of thirty-six dollars ($36) a month. (September 27, 1913.) Garwood, Frances, Stenographer in the Department of English, for ten months beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month, subject to the regulations of the Civil Service Commission. (September 17, 1913.) Gross, Gustave A., Instructor in Pattern Making in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, beginning as soon as he reports for service in Urbana and continuing until further notice, at a salary of one hundred fifty dollars ($150) a month, vice Frederick Ellis resigned. (September 26, 1913.) *Hanford, Alfred Chester, Assistant in Political Science, for ten months beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of fifty dollars ($50) a month. (September 9, 1913.) •Hanson, Frank Blair, Custodian in the Department of Zoology, for ten months beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of sixty dollars ($60) a month, vice H. T. Lundquist. (September 9, 1913.) , • Hawthorne, Warren C, Instructor in Metallurgy in the College of Dentistry, for the academic year 1913-14, at a salary of one hundred fifty dollars ($150) for the year, payable when his course of lectures is completed.
