H. Worthen, who for thirty-five years was State Geologist of Illinois. There has not yet been time to list all of the specimens, but there are presumably about 3,000, and the majority of them bear accurate labels. It is of very considerable value. President James recommended that these donations be accepted and that the President of the University be authorized to express to the donors the appreciation of the Board of Trustees. On motion of Mrs. Henrotin, this recommendation was approved.

REQUEST FROM T H E UNITED CHARITIES CITIES. ASSOCIATION OF T H E TWIN

(11) A - request from a committee representing the United Charities Association of Champaign and Urbana for the use of the Armory for a fair to be given for the benefit of this association. On motion of Mrs. Henrotin, it was voted that in view of the fact that the United Charities Association has put at the disposal of the University Department of Sociology information which it collects in the course of its routine work for use as laboratory material, the use of the Armory be given to this association for the purpose in question, provided this can be done without interference with the work of the Department of Military Science.

SPECIAL AND GRADUATE WORK IN DENTISTRY.

(12) A statement that, since the attendance in the College of Dentistry will be small by reason of the late opening of this college, it may be possible, without present increase of the staff,. to organize certain special and graduate work in dentistry for the benefit of practicing dentists and other persons similarly qualified; with the recommendation that the President of the University be authorized to organize such work. On motion of Mrs. Henrotin, this authorization was given.

• i (13) A letter from Professor Wallace Clement Sabine, of Harvard University, indicating in response to a communication from Professor Watson that he would •be willing to come to the University of Illinois to investigate the acoustic defect in the Auditorium and to give such suggestions as may occur to him looking toward the remedying of this defect, without charge; with the recommendation that the Board of Trustees invite Professor Sabine to visit the University and to give an opinion in regard to what can be done in this matter. On motion of Miss Watson, this recommendation was approved. MINUTES APPROVED.

The secretary presented the minutes of the meetings of June 25, 1913, July 2, 1913, and July 23, 1913, all of which, on motion of Mrs. Evans, were approved. REPORT OF FINANCE COMMITTEE: TREASURER'S BILL APPROVED. The secretary presented the following report from the Finance Committee:

Mr. C. M. McConn, Secretary of the Board of Trustees, University of Illinois, Urbana, III. DEAR S I R : At a meeting of the Finance Committee held on September 13, 1913, all the members being present, it was voted to approve a bill from Mr. M. W. Busey, Treasurer, for' clerk hire and office expense for the period from April 1, 1913, to July 1, 1913, amounting to one hundred fifty dollars ($150). Yours very truly, Chairman Finance Committee. Treasurer Busey's bill having been referred to the Finance Committee with power to act at the meeting of July 23, 1913 (page 600), the foregoing report was received for record.
