(15) A statement from Secretary W. H. Browne, of the College of Medicine, showing- the valuation made by the Chicago Real Estate Board of the property given to the University by the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

the value placed by the Chicago Real Estate Board on the medical property, I will say that on advice from that board this morning the following is their valuation in whole and by items: Total valuation $245,000 00 Land , ' 60,000 00 Of which sum the land on which the Medical Building proper stands 35,000 00 Harrison Street frontage of 100 feet 25,000 00 Buildings 185,000 00 Medical Building 155,000 00 Harrison Street Building 30,000 00 Total $245,000 00 Mr. J. A. Wendell, banker and real estate man, Ogden Avenue and Madison Street, a member of the Real Estate Board Committee which appraised this property two or three months ago, assured me over the telephone today that this value of $25,000 or $250 a foot for the Harrison Street frontage is a fair one. MY DEAR DOCTOR JAMES : In reply to your letter of the 19th i n s t , relative to

(16) Recommendations as follows with respect to increases in salaries: (a) That the salary of Dr. David Kinley as Vice-President of the University be fixed at one thousand dollars ($1,000) for the year beginning September 1, 1913 ; this amount to be additional to the amount of his salary as Dean of the Graduate School, Director of the Courses in Business Administration, and Professor of Economics. (b) That the salary of Mr. C. R. Richards as Acting Dean of the College of Engineering be fixed at seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) for the year beginning July 1, 1913; this amount to be additional to the amount of his salary as Professor of Mechanical Engineering. (c) That the salary of Mr. T. A. Clark, Dean of Men and Professor of Rhetoric, be fixed at six thousand dollars ($6,000) for the year beginning September 1, 1913. (d) That the salary of Mr. O. A. Harker as Legal Counsel of the University be fixed a t one thousand dollars ($1,000) for the year beginning September 1, 1913 ; this amount to be additional to the amount of his salary as Dean of the College of Law and Professor of Law. (e) That the salary of Dr. A. H. Daniels, Professor of Philosophy, be fixed at four thousand dollars ($4,000) per annum, beginning September 1, 1913. (f) That the salary of Mr. George A. Huff, Director of Physical Training for Men, be fixed at five thousand dollars ($5,000) per annum, beginning September 1, 1913, Mr. Huff having agreed to cancel all contracts and relations with professional baseball teams and to give all his time to the University. „'

(17) The following recommendation in regard to salaries in the College of Medicine: (a) That the salary of Dr. Stella M. Gardner as Assistant Professor of Microscopical and Chemical Diagnosis and Director of the Laboratory of Microscopical and Chemical Diagnosis in the College of Medicine be fixed at one thousand dollars ($1,000) for the year beginning October 1, 1913. (b) That the salary of Dr. Mary C. Lincoln as Assistant Professor of Microscopical and Chemical Diagnosis and Assistant in the Laboratory of Microscopical
