(9) A recommendation that the President of the University be authorized to make an arrangement with the Houghton Mifflin Company, of Boston, Mass., for the publication of the addresses given at the dedication of Lincoln Hall, with such an account of the proceedings as may be deemed desirable, and that an appropriation of eight hundred fifty dollars ($850) be made for this purpose. On motion of Mr. Blair, this recommendation was approved, the vote being as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Montgomery (recorded at the afternoon session), Mr. Trevett; noes, none; absent, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Moore, Miss Watson.

(10) A communication from Mr. H. H. Laughlin, Superintendent of the Eugenics Record Office of the American Breeders' Association, suggesting an arrangement for cooperative work between his office and the University of Illinois in investigating the data collected by Mr. Matthews, of Onarga, concerning the life histories of children of criminal parents and in preparing this data for publication - if it should prove to be of sufficient value. On motion of Mr. Blair, it was voted that the President of the University be authorized to investigate this proposition, that he be authorized to enter into such an arrangement as is proposed by Mr. Laughlin if, in his judgment, the results to be obtained promise to be. of sufficient value, and that an appropriation of one thousand dollars ($1,000), or as much thereof as may be necessary, be made for this purpose. The vote was as follows: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mr. Blair, Mr. Dunne, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Hoit, Mr. Montgomery (recorded at the afternoon session), Mr. Trevett; noes, none; absent, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Henrotin, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Moore, Miss Watson.

O F F E R OF $1000 FROM T H E W O M A N ' S BOARD OF MISSIONS OF T H E INTERIOR.

(11) A letter from Miss Florence Starr of the Executive Committee of the Woman's Board of Missions of the Interior of the Congregational Church, asking that the Board of Trustees accept again the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000), which was formerly given* to the College of Medicine for the establishment of a scholarship, but which was repaid when the University closed its College of Medicine on July 1, 1912, and that the board re-establish the scholarship. No action was taken with reference to this matter.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENT OF T H E SCHOOL OF - P H A R M A C Y RAISED.

(12) A recommendation from the Advisory Board of the School of Pharmacy that the entrance requirements of the school be advanced to two years in an accredited high school or the full equivalent thereof, this 'requirement to be effective for the school year 1914-15. On motion of Mr. Blair, this recommendation was approved.

(13) A letter from Dr. Eugene Davenport, Dean of the College of Agriculture, transmitting^ a request from Dr. C. G. Hopkins, Professor of Agronomy, for a leave of absence without pay for one year beginning November 1, 1913, to enable him to accept the position of Director with the Southern Settlement and Development Association; with the recommendation that this request of Dr. Hopkins be granted and that Dr. L. H. Smith, Professor of Plant Breeding, be appointed Acting Head of the Department of Agronomy, for one year beginning November 1, 1913, at a salary of thirty-five hundred dollars ($3,500) for the year. On motion of Mr. Trevett, this request was granted.

MORTGAGE TO CHICAGO BOARD OF E D U C A T I O N PAID.

(14) A letter from Professor George E. Frazer, Comptroller, calling attention to the fact that a mortgage note of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) with interest from July 1, 1913, will be due to the Chicago Board of Education on November 1, 1913 ; with the recommendation that the comptroller be authorized to pay this note with accrued interest, and that an appropriation of ten thousand dollars —41 U
