UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

It was voted to authorize the President of the University to confer degrees upon the graduates of the School of Pharmacy as specified above. AUTHORITY TO CONFER DEGREES UPON GRADUATES OF THE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE.' (2) A request for authority to confer degrees at the coming commencement of the College of Medicine upon such students as may be recommended therefor by the faculty of the College of Medicine. It was voted to give the President of the University such authority.

R E S I G N A T I O N OF PROFESSOR GOODMAN.

(3) The resignation of Mr. Frederick Marion Goodman, Professor of Materia Medica and Botany in the School of Pharmacy, to take effect August 31, 1913. It was voted that this resignation be accepted, and that the President of the University be authorized to express to Mr. Goodman the board's appreciation of his long and faithful service as dean and professor in the School of Pharmacy. APPOINTMENT OF A PROFESSOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION. (4) A request for authority to appoint Dr. Charles Hughes Johnston, at present Dean of the School of Education in the University of Kansas, to be Professor of Secondary Education, beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of thirty-five hundred dollars ($3,500) per annum. It was voted to authorize the President of the University to make this appointment.

DR. BLONDHEIM APPOINTED ASSISTANT PROFESSOR.

(5) A request for. authority to appoint Dr. David Simon Blondheim, at present Associate in Romance Languages in the University, to the rank of Assistant Professor of Romance Languages, for three years beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of two thousand dollars ($2,000) per annum; and, also, to grant to Dr. Blondheim- leave of absence from the University, without pay, for one year beginning September 1, 1913. It was voted to authorize the President of the University to make this appointment, and also to grant the leave of absence as requested.

R E S I G N A T I O N OF PROFESSOR FORD.

(6) The resignation of Dr. Guy Stanton Ford, as Professor of Modern European History, to take effect August 31, 1913. It was voted that this resignation be accepted, with an expression of regret on the part of the board at losing the services of this distinguished scholar.

B I L L OF MR. C. H. B L A C K A L L ALLOWED.

(7) A bill from Mr. C. H. Blackall, Architect, one of the members of the Commission on Campus Plan, for professional services in the preparation of studies for the extension of the campus, and for the expenses of three trips from Boston to Chicago and Champaign, amounting to $962.36, approved by Professor James M. White, Supervising Architect. It was voted that the comptroller be authorized to pay this bill. PLAN FOR PROMPT PAYMENT FOR CURRENT SUPPLIES. (8) The following recommendation from Professor George B. Frazer, Comptroller: April 23, 1913. President Edmund J. James, University of Illinois. DEAR S I R : TO facilitate the prompt issuance of University warrants for dairy products and other current supplies, I recommend that the President and Secretary of the Board designate employees at the University to sign their names to regular University warrants for dairy products and other current 'supplies. I recommend that this authorization cover dairy supplies, household science lunchroom supplies, freight, express, telegrams, telephone rentals and messages, postage stamps, and University lectures, providing that no such University warrant shall exceed
