UNIVEKSITY OF ILLINOIS. REPORT OF PROGRESS ON BUILDINGS.

Mr. H. B. Oberdorfer, Assistant to the Supervising Architect, made an informal report of progress on the new plans for the Stock Judging Pavilion, and also a report of the progress of the work on the new Armory. MINUTES APPROVED. The secretary presented the minutes of the meeting of January 25, 1913, which, on motion of Mrs. Evans, were approved. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY. The secretary presented the following report of appointments made by President James to fill vacancies in positions authorized by the Board of Trustees: Back, Robert; Research Assistant in Ceramics, for five months beginning February 1, 1913, at a salary of seventy-five dollars ($75) a month. (February 4, 1913.*) Brown, James F., Assistant in Military Science, for five months beginning February 1, 1913, at a salary of twenty dollars ($20) a month, vice H. C. Thompson, declined. (February 3, 1913.) Chittenden, Alfred K., Lecturer on Timber and Timber Resources in the College of Engineering, and Assistant to the Director of the Engineering Experiment Station, for one year beginning February 1, 1913, at a salary of twenty-seven hundred fifty dollars ($2,750) for the year. (January 28, 1913.) Davis, Lloyd H., Graduate Assistant in Bacteriology, for five months beginning February 1, 1913, at a salary of thirty dollars ($30) a month. (February 8, 1913.) Domonoske, Arthur Boquer, Instructor in Machine Design, for five months beginning as soon as he reports for service, at a salary of one hundred forty dollars ($140) a month. (January 29, 1913.) Fairhall, L. T., Special Laboratory Assistant in the State Water Survey, on half' time, from January 27, 1913, to June 15, 1913, at a salary of thirty dollars ($30) a month. (January 29, 1913.) Hill, Frank E., (formerly Assistant in English on half time), Assistant in English on full time, for five months beginning February 1, 1913, at a salary of eighty dollars ($80) a month, vice P . J. Batkin, resigned. (February 6, 1913.) Wing, Alice L., Temporary Catalog Assistant in the Library, for three months beginning February 15, 1913, or as soon thereafter as she reports for service, at a salary of seventy-five dollars ($75) a month. (February 8, 1913.) Woodbridge, Benjamin M., Instructor in Romance Languages, for ten months beginning September 1, 1913, at a salary of one hundred twenty dollars ($120) a month. (February 6, 1913.) AVERAGE AGES OF STUDENTS OF T H E COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. The secretary presented, by request of President James, the following table compiled by Assistant Dean Miller, of the College of Engineering, showing the average ages of the several classes in the College of Engineering in September, 1911, and in September, 1912.
