The secretary presented the minutes of a meeting of the Executive Committee held at the University Club in Chicago, on February 1, 1913, which were received for record.

February 4, 1913. Mr. C. JM[. McConn, Secretary, University of Illinois, TJrbana, III. DEAR SIR : A meeting of the Executive Committee was held in the University Club, Chicago, February 1. Present: Messrs Grout, Hatch, and Abbott, members of the committee. There were also present Dean Harker, Comptroller Frazer, and Treasurer Haugan from the University, and Drs. Steele, Pusey, and Musgrave of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. Later Dr. Harsha, also of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, came in. The following matters Were presented by the chairman:

APPOINTMENTS IN THE COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE AUTHORIZED.

(1) A letter from President James, recommending that he be given authority to appoint: (1) A man stenographer in the comptroller's office, familiar with accounting dictation, at a 'salary not to exceed $85 a month. 2. An assistant in the comptroller's office, experienced in the inspection of accounting and business methods, at a salary not to exceed $140 a month. The recommendation was concurred in.

AUTHORITY TO RECEIVE BIDS A N D A W A R D A C O N T R A C T UNIFORMS. FOR

(2) A letter from Major B. C. Morse, Professor of Military Science, submitting for approval: Form of proposal for uniforms, Form of bids, Form of advertisement; and requesting that he be authorized to advertise for bids and that a committee be appointed with power to receive and open bids and award a contract for uniforms. President James, in a notation on the letter, recommended that the requests be granted. Recommendation concurred in.
