succeeding installments due and payable annually being for the principal sum of six hundred fifty-six dollars and forty-eight cents '($656.48), which said installments shall bear interest from the date of the first voucher issued on account of work done on said improvement, at five per cent (5%) per annum, as provided by the Statute of the State of Illinois concerning local improvements in cities, villages, and towns. EXTENSION OF S A N I T A R Y SEWER IN URBANA.

(2) A copy of a petition signed by Messrs. J. R. Reasoner and" C. L. Van Dor en, asking for the extension of the sanitary sewer in Urbana from Busey Avenue to the east line of the University property; also the following communication from the supervising architect to Mr. Frank Boggs, Mayor of Urbana, in regard to the same matter: URBANA, IHL., August 2, 1912. Mayor Frank Boggs, Chairman, Local Board of Improvements, Urbana, III. DEAR S I R : The extension of the sanitary sewer, in accordance with the petition shown me today, signed by C. L. Van Daren and J. R. Reasoner, providing us an 8-inch sewer connection on Lincoln Avenue on the line of Iowa Street extended, will furnish the University a satisfactory outlet to the east. If the city of Urbana will put in this extension whenever the University shall petition for it upon the University's agreeing to pay its fair assessment for said outlet, as mutually agreed upon or as fixed by the court, and with the further agreement that the 30-inch storm water sewer, now terminated on Lincoln Avenue, shall be extended southward on Lincoln Avenue to such point as the University may require for connection with the University storm water sewer through the forestry, a distance not to exceed 230 feet, then all conditions upon which the University's approval of the Lincoln Avenue pavement petition hinged will have been settled to my satisfaction. RESIGNATION OF PROFESSOR BLEININGER. JAMES M. W H I T E ,

(3) The resignation of Mr. Albert V. Bleininger as Professor of Ceramics and Director of the Department of Ceramics. It was voted that the President of the University should be authorized to accept Professor Bleininger's resignation; and, further, that he be authorized to make an equitable arrangement with Professor Bleininger by which the latter will give the benefit of. his advice and assistance in the installing of the plant of the new Ceramics Laboratory. .

APPOINTMENT OF PROFESSOR BENTLEY.

(4) A recommendation that the President of the University be • authorized to appoint Dr. Isaac Madison Bentley, now of Cornell .University, to be Professor of Psychology and Director of the Psychological Laboratory,,'at -a salary-of three thousand dollars ($3,000): per annum, beginning. September 1, 19.12. • This authority was given as requested.

(5) A recommendation from Professor I. O. Baker, of the Department of Civil Engineering, endorsed by Dr. W. F. M. Goss, Dean of the College of Engineering, that Professor A. B. McDaniel, now of the University of South Dakota, be appointed Assistant ProfessoiS of Civil Engineering, for one year beginning September 1, 1912, at a salary of tWenty-five hundred dollars ($2,50.0) for the year. It was voted that this appointment be made as recommended. . .>• •
