(4) A request from Dr. Joel Stebbins, assistant professor of Astronomy, for leave of absence on half pay for the academic year beginning Sept. 1, 1912. I t was voted that the president of the University be authorized to grant this request in case he finds it possible to make suitable provision for Professor Stebbins's work during his absence.PROFESSORSHIP OF FORESTRY. (5) A recommendation that the president of the University be authorized to offer to Dr. Hugh P. Baker, now professor of Forestry at Pennsylvania State College, the position of professor of Forestry .in the University of Illinois, at a salary of not to exceed $3,500.00 "per annum, the work and salary to begin as soon as Dr. Baker may report for duty. This authority was given by the following vote: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. H o i t ; noes, n o n e ; absent, Mr. Anthon}^, Mr. Deneen, Mr. Blair, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Moore. PROFESSORSHIP OF ANIMAL PATHOLOGY. (6) A recommendation that the .president of the University be authorized to nominate a suitable person for the position of professor of Animal Pathology in the College of Agriculture. . This recommendation was approved. APPROPRIATION FOR COURSES IN COMMERCE. (7) A request from Dr. David Kinley, director of the Courses in Commerce, that the balance of the money appropriated by the last General Assembly for the. support of the courses in commerce (see pages and ) remaining after the payment of salaries charged to the same be appropriated for the general expenses of the courses in commerce. This request was granted by the following vote: Ayes, Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Bahrenburg, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mr. Grout, Mr. Hatch, Mr. H o i t ; noes, n o n e ; absent, Mr. Anthony, Mr. Blair, Mr. Deneen, Mr. Meeker, Mr. Moore.

APPROPRIATION FOR STATE WATER SURVEY. (9) A request from Dr. Edward Bartow, director of the State Water Survey, that any money received from the State Board of Health for the purposes of the water survey and any fees received for water analysis by the water survey during the year 1911-12, be appropriated to the use of the water survey.
