Abbott, Esquire, President Board of Trustees, University of Illinois, Chicago, Illinois: DEAR SIR—I beg leave to hand you herewith my resignation of the office of registrar in the University of Illinois to take effect Sept. 30, 1910. Sept. 1, 1893, the office of registrar in the University of Illinois was created and I was appointed to the position, which I have held.ever since. I am asking to be allowed to withdraw from this position at this time solely on the ground that advancing years have made it seem to me to be desirable to withdraw from quite so active a life as I have been pursuing for now a good many years. I wish to thank the Board of Trustees for the confidence in me it has shown by re-electing me year after year from 1893, and my only hope is that I have not proved an unworthy servant of the University. Very respectfully yours,

W. L. PILLSBURY.
