D., University of Illinois:, S I R — F o r t h e information of yourself a n d t h e Board of T r u s t e e s , I have t h e honor to r e p o r t t h a t F r e d Kauffman, Chicago, 111., contractor for cadet uniforms for t h e two y e a r s e n d i n g J u n e 30, 1911, h a s satisfactorily completed the uniforming t h e cadet corps for t h e c u r r e n t year. Mr. Kauffman h a s had t h i s contract for t e n years, and by his good w o r k in fitting and faithful adherence to specifications h a s gained for t h i s University the credit of h a v i n g one of t h e best uniformed corps a m o n g t h e L a n d Grant I n s t i t u t i o n s . This is t h e consensus of opinion of t h e W a r D e p a r t m e n t Inspectors for t h e p a s t nine y e a r s . I n a s m u c h as Mr. Kauft'man was a w a r d e d t h e contract over a lower b i d d e r (Messrs. Pettibone and Co., Cincinnati, Ohio), on my e a r n e s t recommendation, I will t h a n k you to lay t h i s m a t t e r before t h e JBoard of T r u s t e e s . Yours very respectfully,
