5. A request from the dean of the Law School that .he be authorized to assign the usual- scholarships to law men for excellence in standing being two each for first and second year men of 1908-9 of the value of fifty dollars ($50.00), and two each to men of the first and second year 1908-9, of the value of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) each. Voted t h a t said authority be given.

USE OF APPROPRIATION FOR COLLEGE OF LAW.

6. Request from the dean of the Law School for a ruling as to the purpose for which the ten thousand dollars granted by the Legislature for the construction of the fire-proof stack may be expended. • Voted t h a t it is the sense of the board t h a t it is proper to expend such portion of this fund as may be necessary to provide for repairs or new construction which may be rendered necessary by the erection of the stack. ILLINOIS FARMERS' HALL OF FAME. 7. A statement that a commission formed in Springfield during the last summer, calling itself the commission of the Illinois Farmers' Hall of Fame, •desires to present to the University a picture of Cyrus Hall McCormick to be hung upon the walls of some appropriate University building. Voted t h a t the president of the University shall be authorized to -accept such portrait. 8. A statement that further sums are needed to provide for additional furniture and reconstruction in the old University hall and in the natural Jiistory building, incident to completing the rooms for use. Voted t h a t the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) be so appropriated. BUREAU OF MUNICIPAL RESEARCH. 9. The submission of a plan for establishing a bureau of municipal Tesearch at the University of Illinois. This plan has been worked out by Professor Garner, head of the Department of Political Science, and by Professor John A. Fairlie, associate professor of Political Science. It involves the accumulation of a library upon municipal affairs at the University and the attempt to obtain information for the benefit of the public officials of the municipalities throughout the State in regard to all matters with which the municipal government concerns itself. A number of letters from State officials throughout the State endorsi n g the project, were read. The committee adjourned.
