The appropriation was made by the following vote: Yeas, Messrs. Abbott, Crebs, Grout, H a t c h and Moore, and Mrs. Busey and Mrs. E v a n s ; nays, n o n e ; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Blair, Meeker and Davison, and Mrs. Alexander-Bahrenburg. GERMAN FOR ADMISSION TO CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. 3. Request from the College of Science that the recommendation of the University Senate to the effect that two units of German should he required of students for entrance to the course in chemistry and chemical engineering, the consideration of which was postponed hy the Board of Trustees at the meeting of June 24, 1909, (see p. 194 of the minutes of the board), be now considered with a further request for favorable action at least as to the course in chemical engineering. Voted t h a t beginning with Sept. 1, 1910, two units of German shall be required of students who desire to enter the course in chemical engineering.

BALANCE OF APPROPRIATION FOR PHYSICS LABORATORY.

4. A request from Professor A. P. Carman, approved by the dean of the Engineering College, that the balances of the State appropriation for the laboratory of physics be made available for the purchase of appliances, fittings, and various furnishings needed to complete the building for its. distinct purpose as a laboratory of physics. By the following vote the Committee on Buildings and Grounds be given authority to expend the unappropriated and unexpended balancesof the State appropriation made for the Laboratory of Physics for the appliances, fittings, apparatus and various furnishings necessary t o complete the building as a laboratory of physics: Yeas, Messrs. Abbott, Crebs, Grout, Hatch and Moore, and Mrs. Busey and. Mrs. E v a n s ; nays, n o n e ; absent, Governor Deneen, Messrs. Blair, Davison and Meeker, ancl Mrs. Alexander-Bahrenburg. DRAINAGE OF FORESTRY. 5. Recommendation from the director of the Experiment Station that the University contribute the sum of five hundred and six dollars ($506.00) toward the construction of an outlet through the forestry across Lincoln avenue to a branch of the Boneyard, in order to provide for the drainage of the south campus east of Burrill avenue.
