trical Engineering and head of *the Department of Electrical Engineering in the University of Illinois at a salary of $4,000.00 per annum, for a term of three years. Said appointment to become effective as soon as Dr. Berg may report for duty at the University. Said report was approved, and the appointment of Dr. Berg to said position was made. 3. A report of the Agricultural Committee was received, recommending the purchase of the A. V. White farm at Olney, for the purpose of agricultural experiments, on the terms indicated in the preliminary offer made by Mr. White. Voted that the Executive Committee recommend to the Board of Trustees that this farm be purchased for said purpose. 4. A recommendation was presented from the supervising architect, that the sum of $400.00 be appropriated for the purchase of book-cases to be placed behind the loan desk and in the former librarian's office, for the use of the University library. Said recommendation was adopted.

MINING ENGINEERING.

5. A recommendation from the president of the University that the sum of $15,000.00 granted by the last Legislature for the establishment and maintenance of the Department of Mining Engineering be hereby appropriated for said purpose, to be expended upon recommendations made by the Dean of the College of Engineering, and approved by the president of the University. Said recommendation was adopted. 6. It was voted to fix George Huffs salary as director of Physical Training for the academic year beginning Sept. 1, 1909, at the sum of $3,000.00. 7. It was voted to extend, beginning Feb. 7, 1910, the exemption from tuition in the Graduate school to members of the staffs of auxiliary bureaus and scientific stations connected with the University, who may be enrolled as regular students in the Graduate school. 8. The sum of not to exceed $75.00 was appropriated for the purpose of procuring dies for the University gold medal, and the Military Commandant was authorized to procure such dies.

APPROPRIATION EOR FIREPROOF BOOK-STACK IN LAW BUILDING.

9. Money granted by the last Legislature for,the construction and furnishing of a fireproof book-stack in the law building was appropriated for this purpose, and the comptroller was authorized to approve bills contracted for this purpose, approved by the supervising architect. The committee adjourned.
