Frederick A. Braun, Fellowship, in German, for the year 1908-9, stipend $450. T. B. Rutherford, M. D., Assistant in Chemistry, for the ten months beginning Sept. 1, 1908, at a salary of $60 a month. A. S. Williamson, Instructor in Railway Mechanical Engineering, at a salary of $100 a month, for the ten months beginning Sept. 1, 1908. Edward C. Converse, Assistant in Physics, for ten months beginning /Sept. 1, 1908, at a salary of $50 a month. Mr. Converse succeeds Mr. A. P. Kratz. Edward Wight Washburn, Associate in Chemistry, at a salary of $1,400 :a year, for two years, beginning Sept. 1, 1908. Mr. Washburn takes the ,place held by Dr. Lincoln, who has resigned. Irwin W. Bach, Assistant in Physiology, at a salary of $25 a month, for ;the ten months beginning Sept. 1, 1908. I have also appointed: Holland Mulliken Cassaday, Stenographer to the Dean of the Law School, for the ten months beginning Sept. 2, 1908, at a salary of. $20 a month. Mabel Halliday, Stenographer to Director of the Library School, half time, at a salary of $25 a month from Sept. 1, 1908, to July 1, 1909. Paul E. Howe, Assistant in Chemistry, for the ten months beginning Sept. 1, 1908, at a salary of $60 a month. Mr. Howe is to take the place of Dr. T. D. Rutherford, resigned. Edna Lyman, Special Lecturer in the Library School for the month of April, 1909, at a salary of $150, to deliver lectures to the Library School on the subject of Library work with Children. Willis Appleford Slater, Research Fellowship in the Engineering Experiment Station, for the two years beginning Sept. 1, 1908, at a salary of $500 a year, the stipend to begin when he reports for work. Mr. Slater is to take the place of H. J. Kesher, resigned. Frank W. Bliss, Research Fellowship in the Engineering Experiment Station, two years beginning r S e p t . l , 1908, at a salary of five hundred dollars a year, stipend to begin w hen he reports for work. Mr. Bliss is to take the place of C. K. Francis, resigned. Henry T. Wyninger, Storekeeper in the Department of Physics, at a salary of $50 a month, beginning Sept. 25, 1908, and continuing until Aug. 31, 1909. Mr. Wyninger is to take the place of George L. Dobyns, resigned. Samuel Coss, Assistant in Chemistry, for the ten months beginning Sept. 21, 1908, at a salary of $30 a month, in place of W. F. Washburn, withdrawn. William Martin, Senior Assistant in the Chemical Laboratory, at a remuneration of $100 for the academic year 1908-9. • H. C. Bennett, Senior Assistant in the Chemical Laboratory, at a remuneration of $100 for the academic year 1908-9. J. J. Miller, Senior Assistant in the Chemical Laboratory, at a remuneration of $100 for the academic year 1908-9. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT JAMES.

BILL FOR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION OF CADETS.

13. A communication from the Military Commandant, Colonel E. G. Fechet, inclosing a bill from Dr. James H. Finch for seventy-six dollars ($76) for examining and reporting upon the physical condition of seventysix cadets referred to him by the Military Commandant, between Sept. 18, 1906, and January 1, 1908, with the recommendation that it be paid.

Voted on motion of Mrs. Alexander that said bill be paid.

14. A recommendation from the Dean of the College of Engineering that Trygve Jensen be appointed student assistant in electrical engineering at a salary of forty dollars per month for nine months, beginning Oct. 1, .1908. Voted that the recommendation be approved.
