7. Miss Katharine L. Sharp, the Librarian of the University, requests the sum of $150 to pay for clerical work and other assistants, in connection with completing an historical sketch of the libraries of Illinois which she is at present compiling and which is to be published by the University. T h e appropriation of $150 for this purpose was made. 8. Communications from Dean Kinley, Chairman of the University Committee on Accountancy, relating to various suits which certain persons had threatened to bring against the University; in the one case, for rejecting an application to be registered as Certified Public Accountant under the waiver clause; in another, for the return of the $25 fee to an applicant whose application for registration under the waiver clause was refused; in the third, a notice of intention to bring a suit to compel the University to give to the applicant a copy of the examination papers used in an examination for Certified Public Accountant. It was voted that the University should request t h e opinion of t h e Attorney General as to the legality of the position taken by the U n i versity through its Committee on Accountancy. If the Attorney General held that the action taken was legal, the action of the committee should be approved by the Board. If the Attorney General should hold that the action was illegal, the committee should take such action as he might indicate. I n case a suit should be brought against the University, the Attorney General should be requested to represent the University in the proceedings. 9. A statement from the Dean of the College of Science that the faculty of the College of Science had voted to request the Trustees to provide for a course in human anatomy as a part o f the preliminary medical course. * Voted that the Board approve the application in principle, and that a definite plan should be submitted, indicating the scope of the instruction, the number of hours to be given, the. cost of the necessary equipment and teaching force, definite action upon the subject, however, being postponed until it was evident what resources would be at the University's disposal for the ensuing biennium. 10. A statement concerning the fire at the Agricultural building on December 8, from which it appeared that, in the opinion of Professor Brooks, the fire arose from defective wiring connected with the Home Telephone Company. O n motion of M r . Nightingale it was Resolved, That every emergency in connection with the electrical wiring in any part of the University be placed in the hands of Professor Brooks to be attended to at once, and that the general matter of electrical wiring in the University be referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds in conjunction with Professor Brooks for investigation and report; and further, that in the future the installation of all wires in the University be under the supervsion of the head of the electrical engineering department and that his written approval must be on file before such work be accepted or such wires used. Voted to present the sum of $25 to the two volunteer fire companies in Champaign and U r b a n a for their efficient services in connection with extinguishing the above mentioned fire, and that a vote of thanks be , tendered, in the name of the University, t h r o u g h the chiefs of these companies, for their cooperation. Voted that the Board of Trustees express its appreciation of the efficient and prompt services of the night watchman and the fire brigade of the University in connection with the same fire.
