The following resolution was adopted: WHEREAS, It has been brought to the knowledge of the Board of Trustees that, an agreement to the contrary notwithstanding, certain students of the University have lately indulged themselves in a variety of disorderly acts which may be described by the general term "hazing," in one case resulting in a serious and permanent bodily injury to a student of the first year class; Resolved, 1. That the Board of Trustees approves of the steps already taken by the administrative authorities to determine and discipline the offenders; and, 2. That this duty will not be fully and satisfactorily performed until it has been ascertained what students of advanced standing, if any, were witnesses of the accident to and who so ignobly retreated, leaving an injured and apparently helpless fellow student without assistance. Mrs. Abbott was appointed to confer with President James' represenative in the purchase of furniture for the President's house. REGISTRATION. % URBANA, Sept. 27, 1904. To the Board of Trustees: In compliance with a resolution adopted at the adjourned meeting of August 23, the Students' Welfare Committee made a thorough examination of the numerous details for registration and respectfully reports the system thoroughly satisfactory and the result of years of experience. > This system, although complex, is very effective, inasmuch as every student is properly classified for the entire year, and it is possible to detect speedily any attempt to shirk work. , CARRIE T. ALEXANDER, ALICE ASBURY ABBOTT, LAURA B. EVANS, Committee on Students' Welfare.
