8 UNIVEESITY OF ILLINOIS. [Sept. 27 T h e Committee on Buildings and Grounds was authorized to accept satisfactory bids for the heating and plumbing. K E E P I N G AND P U R C H A S I N G H O R S E S . M r . Kerrick called u p the following^ propositions with regard to keeping a n d purchasing horses, referred to this meeting at the meeting of A u g u s t 23d. 1. That stabling and care for one team and for one or two carriages, without coachman's service, be afforded the President of the University at $17.50 a month. 2. That stabling and care for one horse and one carriage be afforded the Dean of the College of Agriculture at $10.00 a month. 3. That stabling and care for one horse and one carriage be afforded the Professor of Animal Husbandry at $10.00 a month. 4. That the University purchase a team of typical coach horses and a suitable vehicle for the exclusive use of the University. T h e propositions were a m e n d e d : ( 1 ) by striking out the first parag r a p h ; ( 2 ) by striking out in the fourth p a r a g r a p h all after the words " h o r s e s " and adding "for the use of the University in the instruction of s t u d e n t s ; " and the propositions were adopted as amended. T h e Committee on Agriculture was authorized to purchase the team of horses at an expense of not to exceed $1,000.00. C H R I S T I A N ASSOCIATIONS. T h e Committee on Students' Welfare offered the following resolution which was adopted: WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees has observed with great satisfaction the effective work of the Young Men's and Young Women's Christian Associations in meeting, welcoming and assisting new students, Resolved, That we hereby record our appreciation of their effort and request the Secretary of the Board so to inform the proper officers of each of the associations. T h e Committee on Students' Welfare was directed to investigate the conditions regarding the accommodations for young women attending the University, whose homes a r e not in the cities of Champaign or U r b a n a , and t o report at the next meeting of t h e Board. P U R C H A S E OF B O I L E R S . T h e Committee on Buildings and Grounds was authorized to contract for 500 H . P . of boilers at a cost not to exceed $8,500.00, of which not to exceed $2,000.00 should be paid before July 1, 1905. R E P O R T OF F I N A N C E C O M M I T T E E . T h e Finance Committee made the following adopted: report whcih was To the Board of Trustees: The undersigned, your Finance Committee, would report the following recommendations, touching the matter of keeping accounts of the University: 1. We recommend that all accounts be aranged in accordance with the double entry principle of bookkeeping. URBANA, September 27, 1904.
