for the College of Agriculture and the Experiment Station, it is proper that the entire expense should be charged to the agricultural funds. 13. Robert Clinton Lloyd has tendered his resignation as Superintendent of the Soil Survey in the Agricultural Experiment Station, to take effect November 30, 1905, which resignation has been accepted. 14. The University Librarian requests that the following titles be used for the positions indicated, namely: Instead of the term Loan Desk Assistant, Loan Desk Librarian; instead of the term Order Assistant, Order Librarian; instead of the term Catalog Assistant, Catalog Librarian. Voted that such changes in title be approved. 15. The University Librarian requests the appropriation of $150 for a reviser in the Library School for three months at $50 per month. Voted that the President be authorized to appoint such reviser. 16. The University Librarian requests the addition to the Library staff an assistant whose work it shall be to provide for keeping up a continuation list. The duties of such person, among others, would be to keep track of all public documents, National, State and local, and such other reports of societies, organizations, etc., as may be of value to the Library. She estimates that such an assistant may be obtained for a salary of $60 a month. Voted that an appropriation of $6o a month be made for a continuation assistant, and that the President be authorized to appoint such assistant. 17. The University Librarian requests that an appropriation of $1,200 be made for shelving in the east reading room, east tower room, east basement room, and Library School room, and for a moving platform to connect the stack room on the main floor with the work room in the basement. Voted that such appropriation be made. 18. The University Librarian requests that $100 be appropriated to the library for student help in filing the Library of Congress catalog cards. Voted that such appropriation be made. 19. The University Librarian requests the appropriation of $150 for the final expenses of preparing the History of Illinois Libraries, upon which she has been working for three years. Voted that such appropriation be made. 20. The University Librarian requests leave of absence from the University for three or four months, beginning January 1, 1906. It is understood that this in lieu of any claim for leave of absence on the ground of a "sabbatical" year, and that such leave of absence is conditional upon the Librarian finding and paying for a suitable substitute who shall be satisfactory to the President of the University. Voted that the leave of absence be granted on conditions named. 21. The University Librarian recommends that the College Library be kept open Friday and Saturday evenings until 10:30 p. m. This recommendation is in answer to requests from the faculties of the College of Literature and Arts and of the College of Science that the Library be thus kept open. It is estimated that the extra cost would be about $30 a month. Voted that the Library be kept open each week day evening until i o : o o o'clock p. m., a n d the necessary appropriation be made for the extra cost involved. HISTORY OP LIBRARIES OF ILLINOIS. 22. The Director of the University Studies, Dean Kinley, requests authority to write to the various libraries of the State and other libraries throughout the country, asking them to subscribe for the History of Libraries in
