Illinois which the University Librarian has been preparing for the past three years, and, if a sufficient number of subscriptions be obtained to bring the cost of publication down to the average cost of one number of the Studies, that he be authorized to accept the volume as one of the Studies. in the series and to proceed with the printing. Voted that such authority be granted. 23. The Director of the Music School requests authority to canvass for a subscription to a fund for the purchase of a practice organ for the School of Music. Voted that the subject of purchasing a practice organ for the School of Music be referred for report to the Committee on Students' Welfare". 24. The Director of the Department of Physical Training requests an appropriation of $471.94 for the purchase of 144 gymnasium lockers. Voted that such an appropriation be made. A recess was then taken until 2130 o'clock p. m.

Afterno.on Session, December 19, 1 9 0 5 . W h e n the Board met after the recess the same members were present as in the morning, and President James presented further matters for consideration. PRINTING PROCEEDINGS OF INSTALLATION WEEK. 25. The chairman of the Commitee on Installation Exercises estimates that the total cost of publishing the proceedings of the various conferences will he about $1,200. Voted that Dean Kinley be made chairman of the publishing committee and that a sum not to exceed $1,200 be hereby appropriated for publishing said proceedings, the vote being as follows: Yeas, Messrs. Bullard, Davison, Lehman, McLean, and M r s . Busey and M r s . E v a n s ; present and not voting, M r s . A l e x a n d e r ; absent, Governor Deneen and Messrs. Barber, Bayliss, Abbott and Kerrick. 26. In answer to an inquiry of the President of the University, Professor James M. White states that, in his opinion, the chapel can be properly ventilated for an outlay of about $800. Voted that the matter of ventilating the Chapel be referred to the Commitee on Buildings and Grounds with power to act. SCHOLARSHIPS AT SUMMER SESSION. 27. Dean Thomas A. Clark, the Director of the Summer Session, requests authority to make the same proposition in regard to high school scholarships for the coming Summer Session as was made for the last Session, namely: that a free scholarship should be granted to one member of the faculty of each high school in the State, such person being approved by the board of education, the principal of the high school and the superintendent of the school. Voted that such arrangement may be made. 28. The chairman of the Committee on Installation submits, with his approval, a recommendation from Colonel FechSt, that the names of those juniors who drilled during installation week should be printed in the min-
