i M r . Kerrick called up the report of the joint committee concerning the purchase of Professor Davenport's house as a residence for the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station, and moved its adoption. While the discussion of the report was going on, it was voted to hold a special meeting of the Board in Springfield soon, next week if practicable. F u r t h e r consideration of the report was thereupon, at the suggestion of President James and upon motion of M r . Kerrick, postponed until such special meeting.

THE AUDITORIUM.

T h e architect of the Auditorium, Mr. Blackall* made the following report: ,

UBBANA, Oct. 20, 1905.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois: I would respectfully report that I have received from Jobst & Sons, Builders, of Peoria, Illinois, preliminary estimates for constructing your Auditorium at a probable total expense not exceeding $100,000. This would include the structure as shown by my plans as far back as the line of the proscenium opening but not including the stage or the rear wings. The building would be finished substantially as shown by my drawings, but would not include decorative paintings or sculpture or any landscape work or any piping,
