steam or electrical work outside of the building, and the interior would be furnished very simply, but ready for occupancy. This building is planned for the site on the south campus which has been provisionally approved

by you. C. H. BLACKALL.

Upon motion of Mr. McKinley, the report was received, and Mr. Blackall was directed to prepare plans and specifications so that bids for the erection of the building upon the south site might be called for, keeping in mind in their preparation that the cost of construction must not exceed the appropriation, $100,000. Mr. Blackall asked that $500 be appropriated for the construction of models of the building, and the appropriation was made.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND APPOINTMENTS BY PRESIDENT JAMES.

1. That bills for installation expenses be audited by the Executive Committee. 2. That the question of printing the proceedings of installation week be considered. 3. That $500 be appropriated to pay for University cuts used in illustrating the souvenir book recently prepared by a citizens' committee, and for the purchase of copies of the booK as may be approved by the President. 4. That $400 be appropriated to defray the expenses of the high school oratorical contests. 5. Ross C. Purdy has been appointed instructor of Ceramics in the University of Illinois for the term of one year, from October 1, 1905, at a salary of $1,800. It is understood that if the Illinois State Geological Commission should desire to employ Mr. Purdy for a portion of his time in the work of the State Geological Survey, such adjustment of this salary between the Trustees of the University and the Commission may be made as may be agreed upon by these two bodies, and that any remuneration which the State Geological Survey allows for Mr. Purdy's work is to be paid to the University. 6. The following persons have been appointed members of the Advisory Committee on the School of Ceramics: A. W. Gates, Monmouth, Illinois. W. D. Gates, 602 Chamber of Commerce, Chicago. F. W* Butterworth, Danville, Illinois. J. W. Stipes, Champaign, Illinois. D. V. Purington, Chamber of Commerce, Chicago. . These recommendation were severally adopted.
