5. It is recommended that the Trustees invite the Central Division of the American Modern Language Association to hold its meeting for 1900 or 1901 at the University. I am told that there is a possibility of securing the meeting, and as one of our professors, at least, is to be in attendance at the session to be held at Nashville next week and will extend the invitation. I should be glad to have it reinforced by the favorable action of the Board of Trustees. 6. It is recommended that the military building of the University be designated and hereafter called "The Armory." 7. It is recommended that the fees of Mr. Frank Cayou, an Indian student who has recently come to the University from the United States Indian School at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, be remitted. 8. The financial report with certain recommendations of the Director of the State Laboratory of Natural History is herewith transmitted. Respectfully submitted,

Action was taken on the items of the foregoing paper severally as follows: 1. Mr. Dexter was appointed professor of pedagogy as recotamended. 2. The recommendation with regard to a summer term was adopted and the appropriation of $2,000 was made. 3. The communication from the Illinois Pharmaceutical Association was referred to the Committee on the School of Pharmacy, and later, upon recommendation of the Committee, Mr. Charles Ryan, of Springfield, Illinois, was appointed a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Pharmacy, his term to expire J u n e 30, 1904. 4. Appropriations for the College of Agriculture and for the Experiment Station were made as recommended. 5. I t was voted to invite, in the name of the Board of Trustees, the Central Division of the American Modern Language Association to hold its next meeting at the University. 6. I t was voted that hereafter Military Hall should be designated "The Armory." 7. Mr. Cayou's fees were remitted as recommended. 8. The financial report of the Director of the State Laboratory of Natural History was referred to the Committee on Finance. Mr. Thomas Large was appointed zoological assistant in the State Laboratory of the Natural History, to take the place of Mr. Surface, who had resigned, the appointment to take effect from Oct. 7, 1899, and to continue for ten months at a salary of $75.00 a month.
