On motion of Mr. Smith the following resolution was adopted: Besolved, That the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois consent to the laying of a double track by the Street Railway Company on Wright street from University avenue to Green street, said double track to be laid on the east side of said street, on the condition that empty or idle cars shall not be permitted to stand on said track except at times of exhibitions or other special gatherings at the University, and that no track shall be laid until the street is paved; said conditions to be provided for in such ordinances as may be passed with reference to said double track by the city council of Champaign, and said ordinances shall be submitted for approval by the Committee on Buildings and Grounds and the President of the University. On motion of Mrs. Flower the vote by which the resolution was approved, was reconsidered and after discussion it was voted, on motion of Mr. McKay, to amend by. striking out "on the east side," and inserting in place thereof "in the center," and the original motion as amended was then adopted.

SUMMER SCHOOL.

President draper presented the following statistics of the Summer School: There were present: Men, 97; women, 51; total, 148. Of these 106 had not attended the University before; of the 42 old students, 10 were graduates of the University, Fifty counties of Illinois and seven other states were represented. The students were distributed by subjects as follows: I n science courses, different students, 96; botany, 51; chemistry, 15; physics, 43;. zoology, 51. I n language courses, different students, 80; EnglishAmerican literature, 24; rhetoric, 31; Shakspere, 25. Latin—beginners, 29; Caesar, 14; Cicero, 6; Virgil, 6. In pedagogy, four courses,, different students, 72. I n mathematics, different students, 55; algebra, 24; geometry, 21; trigonometry, 21; analytical geometry, 3. President Draper was requested to present soon a plan for a Summer school next year. The matter of the contract for uniforms was then taken up. Mrs. Flower moved to continue the contract for this University year, but that the professor of military science and the Business Manager be instructed to advertise not later than January 1st, next,, for bids for a new contract. Mr. McKay moved to amend by ordering a call for bids at once. This amendment was lost by the following vote: Yeas—McKay, Nightingale; nays—Fulkerson, McLean, Bullard, Smith, Hatch,. Flower, Carriel, Abbott.
