In physics, Hubert V; Carpenter, $60 per month. In chemistry, John Langley Sammis, $60 per month. In chemistry and applied chemistry, Albert Philip Sy, $50 per month. In zoology, , $50 per month. In botany, Charles W. Young, $50 per month. In art and design, Stanley M. Lewis, $30 per month. In music, Jessie Y. Fox, $30 per month. In military, A. D. DuBois, $10 per month.

LIBRARY.

It is recommended that the following named persons be appointed to positions in the library and in*the department of library science at the salaries indicated, the first four appointments being for twelve months: Margaret Mann, head cataloguer and instructor in library economy, $900. 2. Maude W. Straight, reference librarian and instructor in library economy, $900. 3. Grace O. Edwards, assistant cataloguer, $720. 4. Laura R. Gibbs, assistant in charge of loan desk, $600. .5. Elma Warwick, accession clerk (ten months), $500. 6. W. O. Waters, order clerk (one-half time ten months), $250. 7. Jane E. Cooke, loan assistant (one-half time ten months), $200.

PHYSICAL TRAINING.

1. That George A. Huff be reappointed assistant director of the gymnasium and coach of athletic teams for ten months from September 1, 1898, at $120 per month. 2. That Ella H. Morrison be reappointed director of physical training for women for ten months from September 1, 1898, at $100 per month.

CLERICAL ASSISTANTS.

1. That Miss -Lillie Heath be continued as Secretary to the President at $900 per annum. 2. That Mr. L. A. Boice be continued as clerk in the office of the Registrar at $55 per month. 3. That Mr. William F. Marker be reappointed as clerk in the office of the Business Manager at $55 per month. Mr. Marker is absent because«of ill health, and in case of his inability to perform the service it is recommended that the Business Manager be authorized to fill the position at his discretion. That Miss Sue W. Ford be continued as chief stenographer in the typewriting bureau at $55 per month. 5. ' That Mrs. Jennie M. Laflin be continued as stenographer at $45 per month, and that the President be empowered to employ in the fall another stenographer in the bureau at $45 per month. The appointments under this head are all tor a year (twelve months).

SHOPS.

That foremen in the shops be appointed for ten months from September 1, 1898, at the compensation indicated, viz.: 1. Machine shop, Cyril B. Clark, $85 per month. 2. Wood shop, Albert R. Curtis, $85 per month. 3. Sxith shop, Henry Jones, $60 per month. 4. Foundry, Joseph H. Wilson, $60 per month.
