PROCEEDINGS OF BOAED OF TRUSTEES.

10. That Alison Marion Fernie, instructor in vocal music, be appointed assistant professor of vocal music and that her salary be $1,400. 11. That the salary of Herman S. Piatt, assistant professor of the Romance Languages, be made $1,300. 12. That the salary of George W. Myers, professor of astronomy and applied mathematics, be $1,900 per year. 13. That Oscar Quick, instructor in physics, be made assistant professor of physics and that his salary be made $1,000.

NEW APPOINTMENTS OF PROFESSORS.

1. That William Lincoln Drew be appointed professor of law at a salary of $2,000 per annum. 2. That Thomas Welburne Hughes be appointed assistant professor of law at a salary of $1,200 per annum.

REAPPOINTMENT OF PROFESSORS.

That the following named persons be reappointed instructors for ten months from September 1, 1898, at the salaries indicated, viz: 1. Alton C. Burnham, instructor in mathematics, $90 per month. 2. Carlton R. Rose, instructor in chemistry, $90 per month. 3. Agnes S. Cook, instructor in rhetoric, $80 per month. 4. George H. Myer, instructor in German, $90 per month. 5. William H. Kavanaugh, instructor in mechanical engineering, $80 per month. 6. William C. Brenke, instructor in mathematics, $80 per month. 7. Alice Putnam, instructor in violin, $80 per month. 8. Charles P. Wilder, instructor in photography, $80 per month. 9. That Matthew B. Hammond, assistant in economics, be made instructor in economics and that his compensation be made $80 per month. 10. That Wilber J. Fraser, instructor in dairying, be reappointed to the same position at a salary of $1,000 per year (12 montns) to be paid equally by the University and the Agricultural Experiment Station.

NEW INSTRUCTORS.

It is recommended that the following named persons be appointed instructors for ten months from September 1, 1898, at the salaries indicated, viz:: 1. Henry Lawrence Schoolcraft instructor in history, $80 per month. 2. Martha Jackson Kyle, instructor in rhetoric, $70 per month. 3. Neil Conwell Brooks, instructor in German, $70 per month. 4. Edward Lawrence Milne, instructor in mathematics, $80 per month. .

ASSISTANTS.

That the following named persons be appointed laboratory and other assistants for ten months from September 1,1898, at the compensation indicated r viz: 1. In geology, George D. Hubbard, $60 per month. 2. In theoretical and applied mechanics, Charles V. Seastone, $60 p e r . month. 3. In civil engineering, Harry William Baum, $50 per month. 4. In mechanical engineering.
