UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

President Draper recommended the employment of Perry Gr. Holden as Assistant Professor of Agricultural Physics, at a salary of $1,200.00 a year, one-half to be paid from University funds and the other half from Experimental Station funds. The term of service to begin September 1, 1896. H e also recommended the appointment of Mr. W. J. Fraser as I n structor in Dairying for the year beginning September 1, 1896, at a salary of $800.00 a year, one-half to be paid from University funds, and one-half from Experiment Station funds. On motion of Mr. Morrison these appointments were made as recommended. Mr. McLean offered the following resolution, which was adopted: WHEREAS, Matters arise in the transaction of our regular business involving" points or law, therefore be it Resolved, That the Board consider at its next regular meeting the question of appointing an attorney, who shall be the legal adviser of the Board, and attend to such matters of law as may occur in the ordinary business of the Board. On motion of Mr: Morgan an appropriation of $163.31 was made for the incidental account, the amount to be used in paying the balance due on account of concerts held at the University during the past year. I t was voted that Mr. O. T. Wills be paid the proportional part of a military scholarship for two terms of this year, during which he served as an officer of the battalion. I t was ordered that the inventories of the several departments of the University should be filed with the Business Manager on or before July 1st of each year. I t was ordered that bills for gas and for electric lighting at the President's House should be charged to the University. The Board adjourned.
