T h e B o a r d m e t p u r s u a n t to a d j o u r n m e n t , t h e same m e m b e r s b e i n g p r e s e n t as in t h e afternoon. P r e s i d e n t D r a p e r s u b m i t t e d t h e following:

SALARIES AND APPOINTMENTS.

To the Board of Trustees, I respectfully recommend the following, touching the corps of instruction of the university: 1. That the Salary of Associate Professor E. B. Greene be $1,700. 2. That the salary of Assistant Professor T. A. Clark be $1,500. 3. That the salary of Assistant Professor Bernard Victor Swenson be $1,200. 4. That the salary of Assistant Professor William Esty be $1,200. 5. That the salary of Assistant Professor George D. Fairfield be $1,300, and that he have charge of the department of Romance Languages during the ensuing year. 6. That the salary of Assistant Professor Charles W. Tooke be $1,200. 7. That the salary of Assistant Professor Walter Howe Jones be $900, and one-half of any excess over that amount which may be paid for lessons upon the piano. 8. That the salary of Miss Adeline Whitney Rowley, Instructor in Vocal Music, be $700, and one-half of any excess over that amount which may be paid for instruction which she may give in vocal music. 9. That the salary of Assistant Professor Wm. D. Pence be $1,500. 10. That the salary of Assistant Professor George D. Hammond be $1,200. 11. That Mr. Prank Smith, Instructor in Zoology, be appointed Assistant Professor of Zoology at the same salary he has heretofore received, viz., $1,200. 12. That the salary of Miss Ella H. Morrison, Director of Physical Culture for Women, be $1,000. 13. That the following instructors and assistants be appointed for ten months from September 1, 1896, at the monthly salary set opposite their names, viz.:
