eral plans of these buildings, as drawn, are ready for your approval, t h e plan being t h a t in interior finish and construction they each be similar to Natural History Hall. We ask t h a t if you concur in our recommendation you enable us t o prepare t h e drawings of t h e buildings in a suitable manner for presentation to t h e legislature. The bath room for t h e gymnasium has been designed satisfactorily t o Mr. Hall, t h e instructor in athletics, and to t h e officers of t h e Athletic Club, and will soon be p u t in ready for use. To the Committee on Buildings and Grounds of the Board of Trustees, GENTLEMEN: I beg leave to present t h e following report as architect of Natural History Hall:

GAS-FITTING.

Bids for gas-piping t h e building were received and opened July 11th: Maltby & Wallace, Champaign, 111 $367 00 Robinson & Burr, Champaign, 111 374 00 Hubbard & Son, Urbana, 111. 572 00 In accordance with instructions from t h e chairman, and because their proposed system of piping appeared to me preferable to that of Maltby & Wallace, I awarded this contract to Robinson & Burr July 16th a t $379, comprising $5 additional for enlarging main from street to building from 11 to 2 in., as recommended by t h e foreman of t h e gas company.

A single bid for t h e lift was received from t h e Peoria Elevator Works, though t h e drawings and specifications had been sent to several parties. The contract was therefore awarded to t h e Peoria Elevator Works a t $130 for a lift set in place and complete, capacity 800 lb. This contract has since been satisfactorily completed, t h e lift accepted, and t h e final certificate given.

BOILERS AND HEATING.

July 30th, t h e bids for new boiler, and for steam heating of Natural History Hall, complete, with steam main and return to Chemical Laboratory, were received and opened, as follows: For Two New Boilers. Springfield Boiler & Manufacturing Co., Springfield, 111, two boilers, f. o. b., Urbana, 111 $1,900 00 Cartage and setting same 1,050 00 Total $2,950 00 Maltby & Wallace, Champaign, 111., two boilers, f. o. b., Urbana, 111 $1,862 00 Cartage and setting same 850 00 Total $2,712 00
