UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS.

From the United States fund— Electrical engineering $ 407 64 This amount is made up from the unexpended balance for the year ending June 30, 1892, and the unassigned amount for the year ending June 30, 1894. The department is greatly in need of the money, and has unpaid bills now for the greater part of the amount. I have not had time to compile the inventories so as to present a proper showing of them at this time, but will do so for the June meeting of the board. Respectfully submitted,

Business Agent. Appropriations for the State Laboratory of Natural History for the six months ending June 30, 1894, were made as follows: For field work, office and incidental expenses. $1,500 00 For salaries and assistance 1,750 00 The business agent was authorized to pay the bill of the Urbana and Champaign Electric Railway company, on account of cutting the wires to let the farm house cross the railway track. He was also authorized to adjust and pay the bill for power furnished the electrical engineering department. The regent and the executive committee of the board were appointed a committee on legislation. The following communication was received from Professor Morrow:

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois. GENTLEMEN: I hereby tender to you my resignation as professor of agriculture, member of the board of direction and agriculturist of the Agricultural Experiment Station of the University, to take effect at the close of the present university year, September 1, 1894. Very respectfully,

The resignation was referred to the committee on instruction, to be reported on at the June meeting. The president appointed Dr. Burr ill and Messrs. Morrison and Raymond upon the special committee in regard to the agricultural college. The committee on instruction was authorized to provide for the classes left without a teacher by the leave of absence given Professor Snyder, expense for this purpose being limited to $1,000,00 for the year 1894-5. The board adjourned.
