On motion of Mr. McLean, Mr. F u n k was appointed a member of the Board of Direction for the ensuing; year. On motion of Mr. McKay, Mr. Cobb was appointed t o t h e same board. The Begent stated t h a t Messrs. E. E. Chester, of Champaign; H . M. Dunlap, of Savoy, and H. B. Gurler, of DeKalb, stood approved by the Illinois S t a t e B o a r d of Agriculture, the Illinois S t a t e Horticultural Society, and t h e Illinois S t a t e Dairymen's Association, t o represent these bodies, respectively, upon t h e Board of Direction of the Experiment Station, and they w7ere appointed members of t h a t b o a r d on motion of Mr. McKay. Professors Morrow and Burrill and Mr. F a r r i n g t o n were a p pointed members of the Board of Direction. The Begent was appointed a member of the Board of Direction a n d also its president. On motion of Mr. Shawhan, Messrs. Cobb and Chester were named as the members of the Board of Direction, who should, with the Regent as chairman, constitute the Executive Committee of the Station. On motion, f 73.04 was appropriated from the metallurgical l a b o r a t o r y fund t o pay balance unpaid of expense incurred in setting assaying furnaces. On motion, there was assigned from the s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for buildings and grounds:

On motion of Mr. Shawhan, $100 was appropriated for m a k i n g the connections of the new engine in the machine shops, the balance of the s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for a new boiler t o be used in this way, and the rest of t h e $100 t o come from t h e s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for the shops. On motion of Mr. Morgan, $200 was appropriated from current funds for commencement expenses. On motion of Mr. Shawhan, a u t h o r i t y was granted t o publish 6,000 copies of the next catalogue. The proposition of the Chicago Graphic Company, which t h e Begent had referred t o the Board, was declined on m o t i o n of Mr. McLean. On motion of Mr. McLean, there was a p p r o p r i a t e d for t h e use of the S t a t e L a b o r a t o r y of N a t u r a l History for the next quarter:
