PROCEEDINGS OF BOARD OP TRUSTEES. 75 On motion of Mr. Shawhan, t h e junior course in agriculture w a s approved as presented. [See p. 54.] On m o t i o n of Mr. Morgan, the amended courses of study for t h e Colleges of Agriculture, N a t u r a l Science, and Literature and Science were approved. [See pp. 54 t o 56.J On motion of Mr. Shawhan, t h e teachers' course was approved a s presented. [See p. 57.] On motion of Mr. McLean, the F a c u l t y received permission t o a r r a n g e a course in electrical engineering, and print t h e same in the catalogue, it having first been approved by the Committee on Instruction. On motion of Mr. Funk, it was voted t h a t the builders' course, now offered, be dropped after one year's notice. It was voted, on motion of Mr. McKay, t h a t the fees now charged in the machine shops be discontinued, and t h a t the students in the chemical l a b o r a t o r y be no longer charged for gas. The Board then adjourned t o meet a t the Doane House, in Champaign, a t 7 o'clock p. m. EVENING SESSION. The Board met a t the Doane House, in Champaign, p u r s u a n t t o adjournment, the same members being present as in the afternoon. On motion of Mr. Shawman, the Board a p p r o p r i a t e d from S t a t i o n funds, for t h e current quarter, the a m o u n t asked for in P a p e r D, presented by the B o a r d of Direction. On motion of Mr. Funk, the a m o u n t asked for in the same p a p e r was a p p r o p r i a t e d for the next quarter. The appointments t o the S t a t i o n staff for the year beginning April 1, 1 8 9 1 , were confirmed on motion of Mr. Funk, the salaries t o be as stated in the report. On motion of Mr. McKay, the S t a t i o n was given permission t o use lands of the University as asked. On motion of Mr. Shawhan, the Board of Direction was given a u t h o r i t y , according t o its request, t o contract for i m p o r t a tions of chemical and botanical supplies. The Regent reported t h a t , acting under a u t h o r i t y given him a t the last meeting of the Board, he had appointed E. K. Nelson an assistant in the chemical l a b o r a t o r y of the Station. The action was approved. On motion of Mr. Funk, the trustees confirmed the action of t h e Board of Direction in appointing a committee t o revise the list of experiments and t o consider and decide upon propositions which had been presented relating t o new work.
