T^ommiUeeS. A. BULLARD, J On motion of Mr. Shawhan, t h e report was received. On motion of Mr. Cobb, the committee was instructed t o prepare a bill, t o be introduced a t the next session of the General Assembly, asking for a p p r o p r i a t i o n s as recommended by t h e report just received. On motion of Mr. Cobb, it was voted t h a t an a p p r o p r i a t i o n of $75,opO for a biological building; be asked of t h e legislature in the same bill. Professor WincheH's resignation of the chair of L a t i n , t o t a k e effect J a n u a r y 1, 1 8 9 1 , was accepted by the Board on motion of Mr. Cobb. The Kegent nominated Professor Herbert J . B a r t o n , of Normal, t o fill the vacancy, a t a salary of $2,000 a year, from J a n u a r y 1, 1 8 9 1 ; and the nomination was approved on motion of Mr. McKay. The employment of a janitor for Military Hall, a t $25 a month, was authorized. The revision of rules for the gymnasium, presented by the F a c u l t y for approval, was approved on motion of Mr. "Cobb. The gymnasium fee was made 50 cents per term, t h e receipts t o be used in purchase of a p p a r a t u s for t h e gymnasium. On motion of Mr. Bullard, it was voted t h a t $400 be assigned from the s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for buildings and grounds for the construction of dressing rooms and a gun room on the s o u t h side of Military Hall, as proposed in the Kegent's report. On motion of Mr. Bennett, it was Besolved, That hereafter the University buildings and grounds be not used for political purposes. The petition of the senior class for leave t o use Military Hall during commencement week was, on motion of Mr. Bennett, referred t o t h e Faculty, with power t o act.
