And on motion of Mr. Cobb, the report was* approved for record. F o u r hundred dollars was appropriated from the s t a t e appropriation for buildings and grounds for painting, etc., in the chemical building. On motion of Mr. Cobb, t h e Committee on Buildings and Grounds with its two additional members, as above, was instructed t o have a fence built around the n o r t h campus, t h e fence t o have 6x6 in. posts 8 ft. a p a r t and a single rail of 1% in. g a s pipe, 18 in. high. The cost of the fence, painted, was limited t o $500.00, t o be paid from the s t a t e appropriation for buildings and grounds. F r o m the same fund the sum of $400.00 was appropriated, on motion of Mr. Cobb, for cleaning and minor repairs. The balance, $203.00, of the s t a t e appropriation for the current year for buildings and grounds was assigned for the care of t h e lawn. On motion of Mr. Cobb, $100.00 of t h e balance of the s t a t e appropriation for the current year for books and publications wras assigned t o p a y for binding. The balance of the s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for cabinets for t h e current year, $178.58, was appropriated for the purchase of additions t o the collection of birds of Illinois. I t was ordered t h a t the cost of the carpet b o u g h t for t h e University parlor be charged t o current funds. The balance of t h e s t a t e appropriation for a p p a r a t u s and material for the current year, $185.97, and in addition $90.00 from the s t a t e a p p r o p r i a t i o n for a p p a r a t u s and material for next year were assigned for the purchase of five microscopes and a microtome for the zoological l a b o r a t o r y . F r o m the same fund $625 was appropriated, on motion of Mr. Bullard, for the purchase of chemical a p p a r a t u s . The F a r m Committee and the Regent were authorized t o repair the division fence between the Griggs farm and land owned by Mr. F . G. J a q u e s a t an expense of n o t more t h a n $30.00, t o be t a k e n from the income of the Griggs farm. The Regent was given power t o spend a sum n o t exceeding $600.00 from current funds, for advertising the University. On motion of Mr. Barker, t h e Regent's bill of $64.84, traveling expenses, was ordered paid from current funds. On motion of Mr. Cobb, t h e following a p p r o p r i a t i o n s were made for the S t a t e L a b o r a t o r y of N a t u r a l H i s t o r y for next quarter, t o be paid from its funds:
