The requests of Professor Forbes, as made in his report above, with reference t o the salaries of the employes of the L a b o r a t o r y of N a t u r a l H i s t o r y were granted, on motion of Mr. B e n n e t t ; and, by t h e same motion, he was given a u t h o r i t y , as asked, t o make further provisional arrangements for assistance in t h e L a b o r a t o r y until the next meeting of the Trustees. The F a r m Committee returned t h e report of Professor Morrow, and the order was made t h a t it be recorded. On motion of Mr. McKay, t h e requests of the B o a r d of Direction of the Experiment S t a t i o n were granted, and S t a t i o n funds were appropriated as asked. A communication from Professor Burrill with regard t o needed repairs upon the greenhouse was referred t o the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, with instructions t h a t the same be investigated and a report thereon made a t the next meeting of t h e Board. Consent was given t h a t , in accordance with the request of t h e Faculty, t h e Regent visit and inspect the Chicago Manual Training School, and, if he find it of satisfactory grade, p u t it on t h e list of accredited high schools. On motion of Mr. Cobb, it was ordered t h a t Mr. S t r a t t o n ' s bill of $25.00 for work done in m a k i n g p h o t o g r a p h s for t h e P a r i s Exposition be paid from current funds. The Experiment Station vouchers were presented by the Regent and referred t o the Finance Committee. The B o a r d then adjourned t o meet a t the Doane House, in Champaign, a t 9 o'clock p. m.

The Board met p u r s u a n t t o adjournment, t h e same members being present as in t h e afternoon. The President made the following report on bonds held by the Treasurer as p a r t of t h e endowment fund: REPORT OF ENDOWMENT FUND. CHAMPAIGN, June 11, 1889.

To the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois.

The undersigned having been instructed by your body at the meeting held March 12, 1889, to make an examination of the bonds and other securities held by the Treasurer of this Board as endowment funds of the University of Illinois, would report that he visited the city of Springfield, and that John W. Bunn, the Treasurer of this Board, handed him bonds of various counties and school districts, amounting to the sum of three hundred and eighteen thousand four hundred dollars ($318,400.00), the same
